Rodarte Lookbook

National Museum of Women in the Arts

In moving to D.C., it’s been my mission to explore museums as I began to build comfort in this city. This afternoon, I had the opportunity to adventure to the National Museum of Women in the Arts to view the Rodarte Collection. I was immediately drawn in by this collection when I found out the designers are two women (also sisters) who found this brand based on their inspiration for visionary concepts, craftsmanship, and excitement for making a profound impact on the fashion industry.

In making my way through their collection, I noted what inspired me by each piece. From bold colors to their styling technique, I am blown away by their impeccable sense of creativity, attention to detail, and pairing of various textile combinations. From bold brights to winter whites, these sisters have laid a solid foundation for many to be inspired by (aka myself). As a curator and stylist, I’m always taking note of what I can do to challenge myself, improve my techniques, and inspire others through my selections and today was truly an experience of learning. I’m excited to share with you a lookbook of photos I took during my walk through of the collection. As a reference for myself and for you, I’ve commented below on what inspires me about each piece.

Enjoy and comment below on which selection(s) you love!

I enjoy the bold red, black floral detail sprinkled throughout, the ruffle layering at the bottom of the dress, along with the bold shoulders.

I enjoy the color itself, how the designers have paired solid yellow tights with the overall aesthetic of the dress, the ruffle layering of the fabric throughout the dress, along with the dramatic arms.

I enjoy the tie-dyed effect of the dress along with the impeccable detail to the front of the dress. Additionally, I’m always a fan of one shouldered dresses.

I enjoy the blush pink color of this dress along with the V-neck detail. Also, I love how the waist lining of the dress comes a bit lower to give a different aesthetic appeal.

I enjoy the dramatic detail of each of these dresses. From the fish neck fabric to the feathers, I think each dress makes a bold statement on their own.
