This Week's MTYA Favorites: Breezy, but Chic Edition!
The seasons move quickly here in D.C.! One minute it’s Spring and the next day it feels like Summer. Even before moving to D.C., people would tell me, “D.C. hops from one season the next, so be ready when the weather shifts!” Either season, I enjoy how you can mix and mingle pieces to create breezy, but chic outfits. Whether headed to a meeting or happy hour, I love mixing blouses with shorts (or skorts) and pairing bold colored selections with gingham pieces. While the pieces I’ll highlight in today’s post won’t be available to shop until Wednesday, I’m giving you a sneak peek of these items and showcasing how you can stay breezy and chic while styling them. So, let’s get right to it!
Gingham is one of my favorite patterns to wear all year around! What I enjoy about gingham is how this pattern can be taken to the office and to brunch with friends. When it comes to keeping this gingham skirt breezy but chic, consider paring a light colored blouse (as pictured) with this skirt. What’s nice is that if you’re wearing a long sleeved blouse (as pictured), you can keep this overall look breezy by simply rolling up the sleeves. By doing this, you’re taking the outfit from a formal setting (by rolling down the sleeves) and to happy hour (by rolling up the sleeves). For more comfort, consider pairing a graphic t-shirt, short sleeved casual top, or striped patterned top with this skirt. Which option will you choose?
I’ve always been a huge fan of skorts growing up and even now! What I enjoy about them is how you can have so much fun styling them! When it comes to this blue and white checkered skort, it’s definitely a favorite of mine because of its detail, bold color, and length. To keep this selection breezy but chic, I’m pairing a bold emerald green blouse to create a contrasting outfit aesthetic. Through the pairing of this outfit, I want to showcase how you can wear this selection to a casual networking event. For other ways of keeping this outfit breezy but chic, consider pairing this skort with a solid bold casual top (such as bold pink, mustard yellow, or red).
When it comes to linen skirts, I enjoy styling them a variety of ways throughout the Spring and Summer seasons! To keep this selection breezy but chic, I’m pairing a lime green and white polka dot blouse to coordinate with the overall aesthetic of this look. For more ways of adding comfort, consider pairing this lime green skirt with a short sleeved casual white, colored, or patterned top and/or a denim short sleeved selection as well.
While there are so many breezy, but chic MTYA selections to highlight in today’s post, make sure to keep your eyes peeled for updates! Also, comment below with your favorite breezy, but chic looks.
