MTYA Panel Discussion Recap: Women in Fashion and Profession

In addition to showcasing and selling one of a kind finds, More Than Your Average is about building a platform to empower, encourage, inspire, and uplift all women. At the top of this year, I outlined a list of goals and accomplishments for MTYA. On my list of goals was to create and facilitate a panel discussion around women throughout the Lexington community who value both fashion and profession. I reached out to a handful of women I’d been following since the first day of starting my business in hopes that they would be interested in participating in my panel discussion. I remember clicking the “send” email and hoping that each of these women (shown below) would respond with a “Yes!”. That’s exactly what they did!

I hosted More Than Your Average’s first panel discussion at Chocolate Holler last week and the experience was truly phenomenal. Each woman pictured discussed not only their profession, but also their interest in fashion, blogging, styling and beyond! Seeing both women in the audience and on the panel made the discussion even more empowering, as both groups were able to ask questions and learn from each other. In hosting a conversation such as this, each and every woman on the panel was able to bring light and voice to various aspects of their lives. They were able to chat about the areas of their lives that bring them much happiness, which in turn inspires and motivates so many other women throughout the Lexington community and beyond.

This empowerment, inspiration, motivation, and overall engagement has also inspired MTYA to continue these conversations throughout the city and region. Hearing the positive feedback from both panelists and audience members furthers conversations of women coming together to discuss and champion topics that inspire and motivate us all.
